Rise of Legends Gameplay Articles

Three major media game sites has released articles on the gameplay of Rise of Legends.

IGN covers the breath of the game from the new and improved ctw style strategic campaign, to the city districts to the differences between the two known factions. You can read the article at this link.

Delsyn from Gamespy delves deeper into an analysis of the strategic feel and character of each of the two fractions in Rise of Legends. The Vinci are described as "predicated on the concept of building large, tough, expensive things." while the Alim are a "stick-and-move" civilization. You can read the full article from this link.

Last but not least Gamespot concentrated on Rise of Legends' Conquer the World Campaign which involves a story line based on the game's Giacamo character, and notes how the game has evolved since its debut at E2-2005. You can read the article from this link.

New ROL Interviews on Gamespy and IGN

First, Allen 'Delsyn' Rausch of Gamespy has published an article on Big Huge Games's upcoming title Rise of Legends. He talked to VP of development Tim Train, Art Director Dave Inscore, and Lead Designer Doug Kaufman about Sand Castles and Mechanical Men. "Rise of Legends isn't your ordinary fantasy, though. There are no elves and hobbits in this mystical universe. Instead, it's all about the conflict between the ancient powers of genies and Arabian Nights-style desert magic, and the brash new steam and gear-powered technology pioneered in the drawing of Leonardo Da Vinci." You can check it out from this link.

Next IGN also wades in and grills VP and Executive Producer Tim Train some more on the steampunk fantasy genre. "The Alim nation, for example, was inspired by the stories of the Arabian Nights, and includes Genies, Afreets, desert magic, glass citadels, and hidden treasures. Leonardo da Vinci's drawings of course inspired our Vinci nation, and we added 'steampunk' and Miyazaki-style elements to create an wondrously-advanced-yet-strangely-backward technological nation" You can read the full article at this link.
