I just recently dropped 60 bucks on RoN and the expansion. Needless to say I wish I could get my money back :/ I was hoping for something more than a sub par RTS which is what this game appears to be. Anyway, I'm hoping that I'm missing something and perhaps you guys can help me understand what makes this a great game.
One of my big issues is how cumbersome the interface is. In Warcraft III it's real easy to set the rally point on your hero and have your troops automatically cruise to where he is. I've tried to get the rally point to be set on my General but it doesn't seem to work out. My troops frequently just walk to where he was at the time I click the rally point.
1) What methods do you guys use to make it real easy for your troops to meet up with your army?
2) How are you guys able to micro setting up the numerous cities you are supposed to build in a campaign? It's always been somewhat tedious in RTSs to get your base going but in RoN you not only do it once, but you have to do it over and over again for each city. What a pain! Please tell me I'm missing some easy way to get your city setup.
3) With numerous cities pumping out resources the ability to build large numbers of troops is definitely there. What methods do you guys use to ensure you are spending all the resources you have coming in on your army and be able to manage the huge number of troops within it in combination with all the micro in your empire?
I find myself having troops just spread out all over the map in single player while the computers army just crushes individual units spread throughout the map. The overhead map view that I have only shows cities, not buildings or troops. So if I have idle troops just laying about there is no quick way to see where they are. What am I missing?
Thanks for any help you guys might have.
