The only way to make a defence that early is to totaly ignore my economy and only pump out archers, so what if i'm wrong and he doesn't rush? His economy is light years ahead of mine. This means that if i choose to counter, a boomer will kill me, but if i choose to boom, the rusher will kill me, there is no middle ground?
I was actually preparing to make a defence, i just had no idea a rush could come SO early. I had planned on getting a barracks up and getting 3 archers before i went classical (don't even research military before classical sometimes) but he hit me before even my barracks was up because he researched *nothing* but military.
It's a loose/loose situation. The rushers will start scouting their oponant and if they see defences they will wait and build their econ, but if they see nothing they rush. No matter what i loose.
I remember somebody saying the game was suposed to be curved to be on the side of the defender for about ancient through midieval, but after that it becomes every the advantage of the attacker. This made a lot of sense to me, so why is defence so lacking in early game? If i build econ i have no food to build military, but if i build military the enemy will build econ and i loose anyway.
IMHO, towers should be availible to be built in ancient age, but military units should not be able to be built until classical. This will force rushes to come a little later than 3:00!! And it will increase the defencive curve early in the game. Though i'm positive that rushers will figure out a way to go classical and get some units out real fast, so it's not a total solution.
