Anyway, I had set it to stop at the industrial age (i hate dealing with the bombers and missles and hordes of tanks). I tend to turtle so, I had a very large army and most of my upgrades done by the time i decided to make my push onto the other island.. this is about 25 minutes into the game.
2 hours (and some frustrated cheating) later, i had finally locked down the island and won the game.
ANYWAY, here is my issue. I cant seem to hold a base once I take it. The first base I took was under constant attack until i took every base around it, then each of those bases was under constant attack. I couldnt figure out a way to completely hold down a base, short of entrenching a large force and building an airport with a bunch of biplanes patroling.
So, what are your tricks for holding down a base once you take it? Is there any way to take the pressure off the base so that you can comfortably prepare for your next push? or do you have to keep pumping out units and zerging forward for 2 hours like I did?
Maybe im doing something wrong, i dunno..ive never been great at these games, but ive never been incapable of putting up a defense around a base i just took either. I dunno if its the lack of walls, or the ineffectiveness of Forts and Towers.. or what.. but I just couldnt hold em back without entrenching a large part of my army, which would in turn make it impossible for me to make an effective push forward.
any help would be appreciated.
