I have found myself running into the pop. cap. quite often in the latter parts of games. This was occurring even with all Military techs and the Colouss (sp?). I have often found myself franticly going from city to city and deleting Universities and scholars to make more pop. room for military units. Then it occurred to me: Make denser cities. What I mean is: building Lumber yards, Smelters, and Granaries in cities that they would logically fit into. For example, If I have a city with 4 or 5 lumber mills it would be a logical city for a Lumber yard. So on and so on with the other "gather enhancing" buildings. This seems to work for me as I can gather more resources with LESS citizens.
OK, I know I'm going to set myself up with this question but, Has everyone else been doing this and I'm just some noobish idiot? I've always build the "gather enhancing" buildings, but I never really looked at it from the point of making the most efficient, "dense" cities I possibly could.
Any thoughts, ideas, questions, comments, good, bad?
