Hi all,

I play alot of 1v1 with my friend.. he uses Incas or most recently Bantu.

We usually push till the end, and only attack around age 8..
We play on Old World (cause i hate water..) and no nukes.

I usually do Chinese, because of the instant civilians,merchants..etc.

So what are your thoughts ?

I know he loves Bantu + Coloseum to push to 300, giving him an extra 100 army.
With Chinese I can push to get Coloseum... but I havnt really tried any other nations..

I read that Americans and Maya are a good idea. On most threads I see Americans as strongest. I know all to its own style and preference.

But I would just like to ask for some tips.. and for each Nation can you give me some pointers what to look into ?

like:
China:
- instant civilians,merchants, etc etc
- extra this and that
- etc

Like I said, we agree to use no nukes and attack late

you can try to outboom him with a nation like Germans or Dutch and attack him before age 7-8 ,or raid him, never allow him a moment of peace with the Mongols,Lakota,Aztecs,Romans etc.

Well, if you play until age 8 before attacking,

you surely need a booming nation with unique units in age 8 or any other advanatages that are still valid then.

Strongest boomers on land maps are:

1. Inca (extra gold by miners)
2. British (higer commerce cap and higher taxes)
3. Lakota (if used properly)
4. Germans, China, dutch

What you shoud not use are aggressive nation like aztecs, mongols, irokese, romans (though one of teh best nations overall).

The problem is by the 8th age most nation powers are normalized, usually with the help of wonders and miscellaneous researches (forts, temple, granary, etc). For example if you play Russians, and he gets a Colosseum (and god forbid, a Kremlin too) or if you play French and he picks the right senate research and builds a Versailles - he still is on par with you at the final stage.

Letting him have Colossus while being Bantu is criminal. You're probably better off by playing Russian + Colosseum + Kremlin, chew up his invading horde, use rockets to target his resource buildings, libraries and oil wells (he needs huge amount of resources to feed the 300 population)

But instead of doing all that, just don't let him make the Colossus. By now he is surely dependent on that extra 50 pop to balance his economy ,military and research spendings. If you make the Colossus, you poop on that balance of his (atleast for the 1st few games ) and you both are on 250 pop.

I don't usually bother with Colossus in Peace til Info age games. The wonder is easy to destroy with bombers which means the +50 pop cap is only temporary. For the Classic wonders, Hanging Gardens is the better Wonder in Peace til Info games because it boosts econ/aging and it's value depreciates the further the game progresses so by Info it doesn't matter if it's bombed or razed. And since you don't have to worry about a military right away, you can fill university's with scholars without worrying about pop cap. Pyramids beat out Colossus too, because they will help with border pushing.
The best strategy in Peace til Info is to out border push your opponent. One thing I like about those games (depending on your opponent of course) is by the time Info age rolls around there is a defined border of forts, towers and troops waiting for all hell to break loose.

How long does it take for you to reach the last age?
