just wondering what people think on this topic.
what, in the long run, is the best intro strategy forthefirst10 min of play ?
as for me, I usually try to get as many areas researched BEFORE going classical. I see that the computerusually goes to classical first.
I prefer to improve my commerce and set up at least 3 towns before going classical.. especially because the cost to classical is awarded with a reduction with the more techs you research . ( which makes one wonder why they just did this for classical... why not for later stages also ???)
nonetheless, I cant help wondering if there may be advantage in trying to go classical faster... ie with only one commerce and one town researched... maybe even before the military upgrade which you can do with bantu (less likely to run into pop limits).
obvious reason being the new buildings that are available in classical.. so for me, i take the commerce, population and towncenter advantages before enteringclassic.... but what about the granary and wood processing ( and later the smelt)... how much of an advantage in numbers do you lose by delaying your progress to classic..... just because you wanted to save food costs?????
all in all, in an economic boom strat, improving the commerce limit makes a HUGE difference. having that first should result in more resources being recovered.
so i know someone out there will do the math. would like to see an indepth discussion on this one.
