The new previews on Gamespot.com, Gamespy.com and IGN.com were really interesting to read. Gamespot gave the best preview, Gamespy still spoke of 4 factions, which is not correct anymore.... 3 factions...
I`m interested in the third faction.
Why is there not any discussion going on already in the community?

well AOE (and that series) just has a big cult following that no matter what they produce as long as its half decent people will be playing it.(like how some people will buy anything from Blizzard).
ROL, i think the gameplay will definitely be solid, and the theme I think is a very good idea. Its certainly hasnt been done before (at least as far as I know/remember).

ya its true, noone even cares about the 70 percent reviews and such for AOE3..maybe Microsoft should name it Age of Empires:Rise of Legends and see if it will sell better

i tried the demo for aoe3.. it sucked. Not innovative at all.. u might as well stick to RoN or anyother game with muskets and cannons heh.
I praise BHG for taking this huge step towards making a fun game.
Anyways... i love how theres the whole neutral terrictory in the game wher eu have to take them other through trade or by force. Its what AOe3 should of had with the native americans.
This game will be more popular if it comes out with a much better multiplayer system. I am scared that they put too much emphasis on single player for this game. Multiplayer is what makes or breaks an RTS game. This is why starcraft was so popular (at its time of course) even more so than warcraft2 for battle.net It was just better for multiplayer. Maybe in an expansion pack.. they will focus on multiplayer besides just continuing single player story.
oh ya.. another good example is RTW.. that game could be really popular with a battle.net like multiplayer system.
another reason why aoe3 will be popular.. although it completely lacks any fun gameplay.. it has a really good multiplayer system (not as good as the 1 for warcraft3 though ).

multiplayer will be very important for ROL, I think. But I have a feeling this game will be BIG, VERY BIG, because of the innovation and the cool game concept. I think there will be a lot of AoE3 player who will turn to ROL and a lot of WC3 players... It is because the concept is so cool: leonardo da vinci machines, etc... And because the game will have cool strategy & because people will have had it with AOE3 (& WC3)... AoE3 gets stale very fast... I think there will be less players online in 2 months than more players..........
The interest in this game will pick up once advertising and more previews really kick in, and given an even bigger boost by a new Heaven. If not, then there's always post release interest, which is definitely going to be high.

i have high hopes for rol as well, but single player seems to be their main focus. Although they said that multiplayer will be better than before, so perhaps theres a chance.
