this forum isn't to busy is it!!!

I think a cool new game idea would be to have a rise of nations set in space. maybe interplanetary or just on certian planets. It could have space ships or something

I think htat would be cool

Nah, the best things of RoN is the historic wealth. Space Age would destroy that and leave you witha mediocre game (especially since National Borders would be hard in Space.)

yeah, national borders would be hard in space. But maybe there could be a new space age after the information age or something

Instead of building newer and larger weapons of mass destruction, men think mankind should try to get more use out of the ones they have

As far as I am concerned, the only way Rise of Nations could have one or more futuristic ages without ruining the cool feeling would be to get permission from MGM to use Stargate as the space age theme (since Stargate uses its alien races to explain past human history, myths, and legends in a very entertaining way).

It'd be better to ask them to make a Stargate-themed game with a RoN system.

I like the idea of a Stargate type game based on the RoN engine. It would be kinda like Star Wars Galactic Battleground and AoE. Both are fun games, but enough different to scratch a different itch. Also what about a Lord of the Rings game based on the RoN engine. It seems that people are always trying to mod Lord of the Rings into games, but LoTR has not been made into an RTS yet (as far as I know).

There are two LotR RTS games already. Battle for Middle-Earth and Battle for Middle-Earth II.

I have been living under a rock last little while. What games are these similar to? Are they at all like RoN or the AoE series? I really like those and if it is the same I might have to pick up the BfmE.

No, they concentrate far less on economy and far more on combat. The comabt is WAY better than any of the AoE games, but economy is rather crap.

well after reinstalling RoN thrones and patriots after a year ,i would like to see a new realistic RoN (not lika that rise of legends cr*p)with the next changes:
Better grafics (i like the current ones so slightly better would already be enough)
more unique units for eah nations (every nation should at least have 1 age with 2 unique units like for example Russia in the information age right now) , and i think this can easely be done , just look at empires dawn of the modern world there every unit is unique for each nation even the peasants are different , of course here there are more nations so just 3-5 more unique units per nation would be enough.
A WAY better govt system, for example how can you be a republican monarchy?! and give the govts more bonusses and make so that it really depends on how you play what govt you would take because right now for instance Republic is taken 90% of time just because it's bonus is far better then dictatorship.
And a better economical system: Add some special improvements to the cities not only just build a mill and such.
Also make so you could have some salary system for your citizens and if increased you will lose wealth but the citizens will produce more ressources. And also somethign that could be nice , if a special ressource is located in the city radious caravanes would give more wealth as they have some special ressource to trade (for example if the ressource 'copper' is into the city radious the caravan would give an additional +5 wealth gain)
and the final thing , increase the pop cap!! i want big armies! 400-500 would be perfect.

Or Just better graphics that hurt your eyes, more units and accurate skins for every nation, and better physics.
i want big armies! 400-500 would be perfect. [/q[
More units and shiny grapjics don't work very well togheter........ most of time.

    I stole this sign!

hmm look at cossacks2 , better grafics(not much but yet) and armies goign up to a few thousands units per side...
and mind i'd already be happy with slightly better grafics and its is not like 200-300 more pop will hurt that much the performance (except off course if you expect company of heroes grafics...)
