America Conquered part of Mexico, after they conquered it, they named it Texas, California, New Mexico etc.. The United States originally had only 13 states.. They conquered the Indians and Mexicans to expand their empire..

And that makes the USA a candidate for a civ in RoN, but what knocks it out of the running is it's youth. Every other nation in the game is also a very OLD empire builder, havning been around at LEAST since the middle ages (most older).

I'm an American and I don't want an American civ. I'd be happy if the game came out with 2 civs, as long as it comes out!

Yes there would. There would be 3 combinations of civ matchups for 1v1s. Same as in the original cnc.

the american civ should be in an expansion...IMO it should have a native american indian look until the enlightenment age, then it could switch to a more european style. the early UU's could be some sort of native american mounted warrior, like in civ 3, then later you could get the normal american units like Bradleys, M1's, F-15's, or whatever UUs they decide to put in.

I think Khmer, Viet (not the same as Khmer although share some significant similarities), Thai (again not the same as Khmer), India, Arabs, Persia, Native North Americans, etc. should be added in the expack.

I think the CONTEMPORARY US (the one from 1775-present) should NOT BE ADDED TO RON. To say that the US is a civilization representing America (that should be the native Americans) is like saying Saudi Arabia is a civilization that is different from Iraq, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, etc. That's just wrong because one knows that Iraq, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia belong to the Arab civilization. In the same way, the US is really just an offshoot of the British civilization (the forefathers of the US were British). The US and Britain are different countries; however, they both represent the British civilization, in the same way Saudi Arabia and Iran represent the Arab civilization.

I suggest adding in maybe the Iroquois/Native North Americans to represent the area today called the US. This could be another one of RON's interesting "what-if's" of history, just like the way the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas are portrayed (you don't hear Mexicans complaining about Mexico not being in RON because they know the native Mayans and Aztecs should really be the ones representing the area known as Mexico today). The Native Americans should have new building art and unit art vastly different from their Aztec, Mayan, and Inca neighbors to the south. In the gunpowder and enlightenment ages, they could have unit art modeled after the Native North American Indians who fought against the forefathers of the US from the 1600's on. In the enlightenment age, their UU could be some sort of cavalry unit equipped with muskets, like those bought from the Spanish or French. This could replace the mounted gun units in the enlightenment age. Another enlightenment age UU for the Native Americans could be a special type of cannon, like the inca mortar. The special power of Native Americans could be the Power of Nature. Weren't they great patrons of the arts and admirers of nature? They could get like a bonus in collecting wood and gold, and, since they were fierce horseback fighters, their mounted units should cost less and take less time to produce.

Not only Briton sarge, but damned near all of europe emptied into the U.S. during the late 1800s/early 1900s. German, irish, italian, you name it there's was probably a burough in NYC named after them :P

maybe you could use Iroquois as the american civ. but it wouldn't make to many americans happy, you could always change the name and Appearance of the people to a colage of different ethnic types. maybe.

Yeah Iroquois, Algonquin, Huron. I'm going to do a bit of research to see who was the more powerful. Technically, the oldest tribe was the Cahokians.

downwith gravity, it would make little sense giving inhabbitants of a land without horses horse UU.

I'd say Indians, Sioux, Polish, Austrian and Alohmads.
