btw, can you only get knowledge with plunder? according to screenshots..

Knowledge is gathered by making scholars that study inside Universities. Think of a university as a "knowledge" mine. You might want to check out our Resource page for a lof of interesting info about the resources in the game

heh..

i was asking if plundering will only get you knowledge, not how to get knowledge other way than plunder..
http://gamespot.com/gamespot/filters/products/screens/0,11105,556040,00.html?page=59

i read my question again.. i can see how one can get mixed up reading that..

edit: made my question even more clear

Oh. In that case the answer is that you can get plunder of any resource. I'm not sure how exactly it is determined, but in playing the game I have seen everything from knowledge to food be reported as plunder.

i guess it would either be random, or based on what kind of resources that building can produce or cost?

That's a good question. You'll notice though that in the screenshot that was pointed out by I, the +10 knowledge is not coming from buildings being destroyed. It is the Aztec's special Nation bouns coming into play. Whenever you are in a large battle like that with the Aztecs, that whole menu over there just goes crazy with reporting Plunder. Almost makes me wonder if the ability is too powerfull.

both from apolyton interviw thing..

Quote:

the British get more resources and their ships and archers are better equipped

Quote:

the Spanish can see the entire map even if the pre-game map setting is set at it being uncharted.

.. i wonder what it means by "better equipped" rather than "stronger" or "have more range"

in Japanese during the medieval. Bushi and Samurai should been awailable at the same time.

during the gunpowder age. Bushi, Samurai and Gun Samurai should be awailable at the same time.

why aren't they???

Very true.

And Germany really went like this:

-Tanks-
AK7->Panzerkampfwagen MK I->PZR MK II->PZR MK III->PZR MK IV
->PZR MK V->PZR MK VI->Leapord I->Leapord II

Refering ONLY to Tigers (Panzer MK Vs) wouldn't be right, the MK IV was the main German tank and used the most.

That's ZBrisk, baby!

ah, i see

..

Quoted from IGN PC Games:

the advent of the Crossbow raises this line -- with the exception of the various unique units available to the British, Nubian, and Korean players

ah, British, Nubians, and Koreans get UU's replacing crossbows

yes likely the english longbowmen will be the british UU and replacement unit for crossbows in the medieval age. aztecs also get an archer unit instead of a crossbowmen in that age. I dont know about maya but that would make sense if aztecs do. Obsidian can you check this?

one civ i am very looking forward to hearing about will be Romans.

I'm interested in the civs that don't exist anymore.. see what they did for their modern ages.. like the Aztec Jaguar (Assault) Infantry

and also Korea, but i have a whole separate thread on that

yes of course playing those hypothetical one would be interesting. what i mean was so far we dont know anything about Rome's civ powers or UU's, like we do for Aztecs etc.

i think the brits will have both crossbows and archers awailable at the same time.

only if they can fit the longbow as a separate unit line. The approach RON seems to be taking is not to have UU's that are in the AOK sense but as replacement units for existing lines, so that they upgrade to the next unit in the next age. It is unlikely seeing how other civs got an archer unit to replace the crossbow that Brits would be any different.

Well, the Maya aren't in the marketing beta so I really don't know if they have the same heavy archer as the Aztecs. We'll have to rely on our friends from BHG to fill us in on this one.

in Japanese during the medieval. Bushi and Samurai should been awailable at the same time.
during the gunpowder age. Bushi, Samurai and Gun Samurai should be awailable at the same time.

why aren't they???

lol....

lets see:

bushi (classical)-> elite bushi (medieval and gunpowder)

but that's too many unit lines..

i think we'll both agree that bushi or samurai can't replace the archer line

then it's either pikemen or javelineers, and i think samurai were more hand to hand than spear-throwing.

and how would you make the bushi line and samurai line different?

and if they don't upgrade into gun samurai, then you will have obsolete units running around once you are in enlightenment?

archer line? too many units? wtf r u talking about???

ashigaru= pikeman

javeliner (japanese didnt use those so much)= bushi

the samurai has a sword right= swordsman

the gun samurai has a gun right= arquebus

there u go, thats the replacements
