Everyone feel free to post your new coming scenarios in this thread. Currently, as many of you know, I am currently working on an, "Ancient World" Mod, that should add another element to RoN.

I want to have another quick scenario and file release right before Christmas. I was thinking that Sunday, December 20 would work. Are there enough people that have files that they could release? I will be able to make a couple of scenarios by that time. Please post ideas for scenarios that you want me to make.

I'm going to be very busy next week, but I can churn out a few scenarios over Winter Break. I'll have them about before New Years.

I've got a couple of ideas that are pretty creative. One of which will be extremely easy and quick to make, so I hope you all like it. I'll get started on it immediately.

Well, school's over for the year. I'm going to put out at least 2 more Socialism rising scenarios and finish up my Sarajevo scenario before New Year's.

I'm working on a CTW set in China from 1927-1945. The primary conflict is the Japanese invasion of China. The secondary conflict is the power struggle between Communists and Nationalist leaders. I'm planning an interface similar to the Cold War interface, where the DEFCON meter represents your global reputation. Having a good reputation means things will cost less, and people are more likely to ally with you. Having a poor reputation will mean the opposite. Most scenarios will have a few decision-making points where your choice will affect your reputation.

So far, the intention is to make only the Communists playable (which is rather fitting, since the player color on the CTW map is always red). Ideally, if I could get CTW player colors to change, I might give blue or white to the Nationalists and let the player play as them too.

The map will have British (Hong Kong), Japanese (Japan), Russians (Soviets), Mongolians (Mongolia), Indians (India), and Koreans (Korea) as themselves. All other nations will be altered in some way to represent the various feuding factions in China at the time. I particularly like the Lakota, who don't have territory outlines on the map. They will represent the "neutral", ungoverned territories.

I remember reading that the Big Huge Games staff wanted to make a Chinese CTW scenario, but eventually scrapped it in favor of the Cold War scenario. I'm hoping to redress the balance a bit, by showing how even something as powerful and monolithic as the Chinese Communist government today had its humble roots in a string-and-a-prayer guerrilla force way back in the day.

okay I've decided the problem was i always really wanted to have it in both the gunpowder and enlightenment age, but didn't want to deal with the age transition. but I'm going to do both now, so although it might mean more work at least i can finalize what i'm making so i don't have to backtrack anymore.

i'll post a preview in a few days of the intro cutscenes.

C has ordered you to stir up insurrection in your area. Weapons, supplies and books on how to use guns and tactial maneuvers will arrive in approximately 5 days. Good luck.

I'm working on an alternate history campaign where the Confederacy won the civil war. It's not very original, but I got the idea from a story I happen to also be writing with the same premise.

Of course, first I have to learn how to mod.... and script.... Why couldn't they have just put in a damn simple trigger function?

I'm going to start a Rhye's and Fall (like the Civilization IV mod) scenario for RoN. I'll first make a european map with the earlier ages and after that, I will expand and possibly add the Americas with colonization and others. It will be very fun!

Update.

Looks like I've done virtually no work on my alternative history earlier great war scenario. I just couldn't deal with not having a perfect map, and because that is not possible in the Rise of Nations map editor, and there is no map included in the game (ie some scenario from the campaign that I could have used) instead, I'm revamping plans.

I have two basic options...

1. Find a map that came with the game that I can use like motter did with Ultimate Napoleon. Unfortunantely other than the map of Britain none of the maps felt like they would work too well.

2. I was looking at Reign of Fire and although I think the fantasy stuff is kind of gay and was probably made by a 13 year old, in all honesty I'm not that creative so I thought that I could adapt some of the factions/ map into my project. I'm not a fan of making up fantasy names/ cities though so I'm not sure how this will work...

Anyway, I still like the alternative ww1 idea but need a map to implement it...

Any imput welcome.

You could try taking the map from this scenario - it lacks forests and mountains and rivers but it's a good base

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst (and use this phrase to justify your actions when it goes wrong)

@ Scarab

Unfortunately I need trees/ mountains/ rivers, that's the hard part. I know how to import a map etc.

I also don't want a full map of Europe, I intend to imitate motter's technique of off-the map nations that I can spawn in when they are needed (ie Russians/ Austrians/ etc in his Napoleon scenario.)

Check out this map: http://ron.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=1781&ci=b15402bee78110ccc2277b77983f67fd/Oot9ImqbKVxBF4JDayEsYDiIa5iMlGOYwWyTLwQGAiwBvue7t8TGdJuHV7jjy5TDXxK9r7Pmu2S15/dRw/eoG912ajycsfTqHTepkdKbAf8C3SyBYNlEivmR0F2SXs8nLnUsQ==

I made it and thought it was pretty good, but somehow I can't deal with placing trees on my own so abandoned making my scenario on it...

Anyway,

I'm considering making some simple, open ended single/multiplayer maps that are open ended, for example, the Ancient World, in which nations would be Rome, Carthage, Athens, Sparta (maybe), Hittites (maybe), Babylon (maybe), Egypt, and Celts. I will be sure to keep everyone updated if I do decide to make such a map. Most likely, the script for this scenario will only be to enhance game play, change nation names and city names, and other such things.

One such idea would be to create a scenario similar to the Rhye's and Fall Mod for Civilization IV, in which each civilization spawns at a certain point in the game, but all varying of course. We will see. I'll keep you all updated as well.

My third scenario is now almost finished, except that problem with the num_in_group function. You will play the role of Scipio Africanus(the Roman general who defeated Hannibal in the Second Punic War), and you'll start only with an almost ruined city(Tarraco), and a medium-sized army and navy. Your purpose is to wipe out the Carthaginians from Hispania. At the start of the game, the Carthaginians have 8 cities(Carthago Nova, Saguntum, Malaka, Gades, Hispalis, Kartuba, Tingis, Lixus), and a large army. Other nations are the Greeks(allies of the Romans), the Iberians(allies of Carthage), the Celtiberians(allies of Carthage), the Lusitani(allies of Carthage), the Basques and the Gauls.

Each Carthaginian city is well-defended and should be hard to take(with the only exception being Carthago Nova, which is almost defenseless). The Celtiberian and Iberian cities are well-defended as well.

So, the Romans start the game with a clear disadvantage, but scripted events will constantly balance the game.

After I finish making this scenario, I will probably make some short scenarios, about some medieval battles which took place in the Iberian Peninsula(like Roncevaux, Las Navas de Tolosa, or Aljubarrota).

Now that I got fairly experienced at RoN scripting and scenario design, I'm thinking about making a CtW campaign about the Persian Empire. I have some pretty interesting scenario ideas, but unfortunately right now I'm having a problem with the map I'm trying to use. So I had to cease this project for now. I will probably redo the map and see if it works. If I still won't be able to continue my project, I'll probably make some short battle scenarios, which took place in Medieval or Gunpowder age.

I was also thinking about making a more complex scenario, like Second Punic War - Hispania. I had an idea about a scenario concerning Cyrus the Great. This scenario would include some concepts new in RoN, like city trading, and maybe even tech trading. Unfortunately I couldn't find a suitable map to import. But I haven't abandoned the idea, I may one day make that scenario if I find a good map.

I've also thought about making a scenario about the end of the Bronze Age(around 1200 BC). The player would control the Sea People, and would fight against the Egyptians, Hittites, Greeks, Mitanni and maybe Phoenicians and Assyrians. But again, I'm not sure how I could make a good map which would also include the islands of Greece. The maps simply can't be that sofisticated in RoN.

Hey Everyone,

I'm back! And first things first wanted to congratulate LordBJ, Jimmybda and the other winner of the motter's contest. Now that work has taken a back seat coz im remotely handling my official affairs at the moment. I think its time to revisit the scenario making. Now, I left off the Saladdin adventure abruptly. That was like 4 months or so ago. I was pretty amatuer at scripting and all. But now, I am going to stop that series on Saladdin for a while. I have a new idea of making a scenario on Akbar the Great (Mughal Emperor} who ruled most of south asia. I have almost completed the map and gotten started on scripting. The final scenario should be finished by the end of November if nothing else comes up. So, just wanted to post this info here.....

And LordBJ and JimmyBda do you guys have a yahoo or Gtalk Id's i needed some help with scripting if i can get to chat with you guys there on a pre-decided date and time, It'll help a lot with the scripting issues im encountering. Hit me up on this page or email me - issam.mehek-at-gmail-dot-com

Thanks in advance,
Issam.

Nice to see you're back. Well if you need some help with scripting, wouldn't it be better to post your questions in this forum? I'm saying this because that's the way we can make this forum more active, and attract more people here.

Hi, there.I have a question and I'm not sure if I can post it here.
So I'm thinking of a new scenario after my first one and I hope i could finish it until Easter.
The problem is at counting units.
So to give an example:
I want to make a script that will request to the human player to bring an army near some specific coordonates. How do I count the units that the player will bring there.
I'm waiting for your answear.
Happy holidays.
