As part of the Tet offensive in 1968 the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and Viet Cong (VC) attacked the ancient imperial city of Hue (pronounced way), capturing the Citadel and holding it for almost a month. The Citadel is an ancient fortress built with immense stone walls and had stood for hundreds of years.
The Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN)was below 50% strength as it's soldiers were on leave celebrating the holidays with their families as is the custom. The NVA and VC used this to their advantage and attacked the city with a large force. They also attacked the Military Assistance Command Vietnam (MACV) Headquarters as well as numerous other targets.
The ARVN responded but could not dislodge the dug in enemy troops. U.S Marines, later joined by elements of the 1st Cavalry and 101st Airborne divisions fought house by house for almost a month before defeating the offensive. In the process the ancient Citadel was turned into a pile of rubble.
In this scenario you are the local MACV commander. You must survive the initial attack, then with reinforcements take back the city of Hue.
Be warned, the enemy attacks with a huge force. It's not recommended to jump head first into the fight, but rather let your artillery and air assets do as much damage as possible before trying to retake the city and eliminate the resistance.
Included in the zip file are several photos of the Citadel today and one of the damage to the city at the time. Also included are 2 maps to help you get your bearings. There are also several building skins that were included in my Lang Vei scenario. If you want to use them copy and paste the fort and tower into your RoN art folder and the houses into your TaP art folder.
