"The Second Battle of El Alamein marked a major turning point in the Western Desert Campaign of World War II. The battle lasted from 23 October to 5 November 1942. The First Battle of El Alamein had stalled the Axis advance. Thereafter, Lieutenant-General Bernard Montgomery took command of the British Eighth Army from General Claude Auchinleck in August 1942.
Success in the battle turned the tide in the North African Campaign. Allied victory at El Alamein ended Axis hopes of occupying Egypt, controlling access to the Suez Canal, and gaining access to the Middle Eastern oil fields. The defeat at El Alamein marked the end of Axis expansion in Africa."
That's the truth, but now,you could take control of the Axis armies on this front, hold out against the British assault,then...you will find out what's happening in my version of El Alamein!
Please rate!I would really want to know what do you think about my scenarios! :D
Useful note:You could control the Italians too. |

Map design was pretty good
Story/Instructions: 5
There were no instructions, but the story was very well done.
Additional Comments:
If the German reinforcements from Russia didn't come then I'd probably lose the scenario! |

Good, but not great; it just degenerates into a massive battle of attrition which can only be won by piling in forces. Plus having the Italians as a seperate nation makes commanding them near-impossible
Balance: 4
Very fairly balanced; The battle is not too easy, as it was in reality
Creativity: 3
People have done El Alamein before, but putting in the Italians in as an extra nation is unique
Map Design: 3
OK, but a bit plain, although I guess the place was mostly desert
Story/Instructions: 4
Very good and not too intrusive. However I doubt the troops who won at Stalingrad would be sent to Africa - that was a lost hope anyway. They would probably have gone to a place like Sweden, simply because that's nearer and more like the USSR
Additional Comments:
A very good scenario - much better than one group of scenarios about a World War posted here a few months ago (u kno who u are). It is very well researched and set out. One way to improve it may be to either put the Italians under computer control, or give all their troops to the Germans, like the other El Alamein scenario. |

I wanted to know more about the historical background of the battle,so I read it on the Wiki. Also,I saw, that even Rommel said, if the Battle of Stalingrad is won, they will win too.
The Wiki suggests, that German forces in the Caucasian could enter Northern Persia, thus endangering British colonies in the Middle East,so they are obligated to send troops to the zone, allowing the Afrika Corps to gain the upper hand.
Instead, to make the defense more easier,I chose,to send reinforcements in Africa. At the end of the battle even their "Fuhrer" could see, that the battle is lost without fuel, ammo, machinery and men.
I just wanted to make something unreal.I suggest, after playing this scenario you could try out the Battle of Cairo (At the start of that scenario is written, that Rommel wins the Battle of El Alamein. Now,here is the situation too.) [Edited on 01/30/09 @ 10:44 AM]

Really fun scenario!!
Balance: 4
I found it well balanced, but again, no scenario is perfect.
Creativity: 3
Many WWII scenarios have been done before.
Map Design: 5
Extremely detailed map, that is also accurate.
Story/Instructions: 4
Solid instructions for the player, but sometimes it was intruding on game play
Additional Comments: Overall, a great scenario! Keep up the good work! |
