The Campaign "Socialist Rising":
In 2012, capitalist governments will collapse, socialism will prevail and the proletariat will finally come to power... Or will they?
The Story:
Carole has finally goten control of British Columbia! The American Anti-Socialism Initiative is tied up in the East, so she has a free hand to expand towards the Prairies and perhaps even Ontario. But first she must get these weapons through these darned mountains!
The Scenario:
Mainly a military engagement. You already get a nice flow of resources. All you have to do is find and capture the Ranger HQ before your supplies run out and pull back to Kelowna!
Other Notes:
This scenario doesn't even need to be in my campaign story cannon, but I thought it would be fun to make a scenario like this, so here you are! Also, I didn't make an additional scenario for the Rangers this time, because I didn't really feel like it. If you want to train up some troops and stop Carole, fine by me, just load the scenario into the editor and change who controls what nation.
Playability: 2
Not much fun and the objective isn't really clear(I initially thought that "Destroy the Ranger Outposts and capture the Ranger HQ before your troops freeze to death." meant that I should hurry up because there's a high level of attrition). Actually there was a time limit. One couldn't know the game will end after 10 minutes unless he looked in the script. So, the first time I played, I lost because of that time limit. That's a big playability problem.
Balance: 4
Good balance, although the enemy has few troops.
Creativity: 3
A decent amount of creativity, but nothing more, unfortunately. There are no scripted events other than that defeat after 10 minutes.
Map Design: 4
Good map, but nothing really spectacular. The idea behind it was kind of simple: you control a corner, the enemy's capital is placed in the opposite corner, and it's hard to reach because it's protected by forts, towers and natural defenses.
Story/Instructions: 3
The instructions were not very clear, that's why I can't give more than a 3.
Additional Comments: This scenario can be improved in many ways; as it stands now, I wouldn't play it again soon.
