This is my first map. It's about Omaha Beach. It's really cool because you get to see hundreds of troops on the beach at the same time. I even script an AI ally. I tried to balance this to make it, "one shot, one kill".
Try this map out. It's lots of fun, and somewhat realistic.
When playing, you might want to start out paused to plan your attack.
From a game point of view, it was easy to win. From a realism point of view, it seemed good.
Allied forces outnumber Germany greatly, but similar as said above about realism and game views.
D-Day is not an original idea but I like the way it is implemented here. For example, the adjusted ranges of all the units. The way the reinforcements arrive on the beach lining up 100s of troops. How the AI allied forces fight with you and attack on their own. The green AI was really neat how it circled the top left and came into the town the other direction. Not sure if it just played this way or the author setup a scrip for it.
Map Design: 3
This category was tough to rate considering a few things. About 65% of the map was very blank and bare. At the same time though, the fighting never took place in any of those areas. The area where the fighting takes place is done pretty good and much more detailed. For example, the town is setup nicely and German defenses are positioned well. Also the beach area is done well. Some more cliffs could add a touch to things.
There wasn't anything here.
Some things I can think of for improvement... Give the German tank group in the northeast a scrip to attack into the town once allied troops enter it. Maybe have the initial wave of troops start out in landing craft in the sea. Once the beach is secured, reinforcements can arrive. In the end, overall not a bad download for some quick fun. Certainly has plently room for improvement which I say is a good thing.
