DESIGN: This scenario was designed using RON Thrones & Patriots Scenario Editor.
HISTORY: The French and Indian War between the French and their Indian allies and the British and their colonial subjects in America. It was an extension of the 7 Years War that raged on multiple continents.
A highlight of the war is the massacre of the Fort William Henry garrison that had surrendered to the French. More about this event, immortalized in The Last of the Mohicans, is shown here:

A general description of the war can be seen here:

This scenario is roughly based on the theater of war between New York and Canada.
SETTING: Shown on the map are the major forts, such as Ticonderoga, and the major cities, such as Albany and Saratoga, plus the great lake and rivers. Canada is compressed into the north of the map across the lake. To the west are British settlers (the Americans), who are your ally. North of them are the Iroquois, who are allied to the French and hate the English.
The scenario starts with the heartrending masscare of the British column retreating from Fort William Henry, which is now in the hands of the General de Montcalm, leader of the French Army. If you try to flee, you may save some troops. However, it is more interesting to watch them try to hold out, and more true to the actual events. This atrocity will galvanize you to punish the Indians and crush French power in North America.
Very soon after the massacre, however, you will not be able to attack for a while. You will probably find yourself on the defensive against the Iroquois in the west, French in the east, and the French Navy coming off the lake to test your river defenses.
GAMEPLAY: I only got lag once during the game, which was during the opening massacre. I suggest you start the game on "very slow" speed setting until the battle is over.
I often set my infantry to "stand ground" to see them fight in line. It made the game much more visual interesting.
Overall, I found this map very pleasant to play on, it's a challenging and aesthetically pleasing map in my opinion. The small armies reflect the sizes of the forces in the War.
VICTORY CONDITIONS: Take the Iroquois and French capitals and hold them to win.
POP LIMIT: Your pop limit is 125. So you will have to guard two fronts, maintain an army and navy, on a limited budget. This will make the game more interesting and challenging.
STRATEGY: You have a lot of options here. First thing I always recommend is to pause the game to get the lay of the land before going on with the game. For example, you have merchants that can go to their respective resources, citizens that need building, etc.
One thing the game AI likes to do is crank out navies and attack you with them. You will have a difficult time dominating the river, then the lake, while your Army takes the French Army camp (city) and can cross the lake.
That approach would take you across the river to the right. Another approach would be to silence the threat from the Iroquois on your left, and then try to take the French city of Nimes on the American side of the lake, depriving the French of significant base of supply and resources. Both approaches will first be fought on land, then on the water, then on land again to win.
First thing you should do after the massacre is protect your land bridges over two forks of the river. If the French cross the bridge on the right, they can be caught in a very satisfying pocket and slaughtered.
Both the French and the British start with a few Indian auxilliaries.
The Americans (British settlers) on the frontier will likely not be very helpful for a while. Their best men died with the Fort William Henry massacre, and the Indians are attacking their farms along the frontier. The Americans will likely pull back and gather forces slowly before coming to your support and truly protecting your flank.
THANKS FOR PLAYING: Thanks for playing this scenario and I hope you have fun with it.
