World War 2- El Alamein Battle

Needs T&P?: Yes
Northern Egypt, the town of El-Alamein. This battle is one of the most decisive battles in the war. It signalled the turning of the tide against the axis in N Africa and then in all of Europe. FM Montgomery must breakthrough the axis lines in El-Alamein.

In this game you play as the British and must defeat Rommel and breakthrough the axis lines. The map was accurately reproduced and the name and unit types are extremely accurate. The source of most of my info was this animation.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/games/wwtwo_map_ani_el_alamein/index.shtml

Although you can follow the actual plan of the real attack, you have no obligations to do that (there are no script triggers and etc. It all up to you to decide what the battle plan is going to be. You final Job is defeat the axis and breakthrough their lines. Although i extremely recommend you watch the animation first to know what to expect in the game. The axis are on the defence and so dont expect them to counter attack strongly.

In the game every unit is renamed according to their historical names and each is give it's historical weaknesses and strengths.

Planing is everything in this game, and although it is lightly scripted, the battle is very exciting.

Following Motgomery's original plan is a very easy way to win this battle although the real fun is trying to come up with another plan and see if you are able to replicate his success.

In conclusion, there are two things to watch out for, the anti-tank guns that are placed in depth along the front lines and the next is the depth of Rommel's line. Breaking through these thick lines is going to be a nightmare.

Thanks for playing my scenario...

Difficult but great.

Loved the unit names and types. Every unit is renamed and tweaked according to how strong it is

Map Design: 5
Wow. The map is extremely accurate compared to the site you had linked. Every mountain was in the right place and the town was also in the right place. The railway thing is also nice. one thing i did not find was the Rahman track??

Story/Instructions: 5
Other than the intro there was no ingame triggers or anything. Although it lacked these the game is great and historically accurate. You have already proven to be a good script writer and so i suppose you did not add a strong script on purpose.... Seriously speaking, having different scripts would have cut down on the enjoyment so it was a lucky call not to heavily script this scenarion

Additional Comments:
Great map overall, loved the historical scene. Perhaps you can make another WW2 battle site map. Keep up the good work
wakain at last!!!!!

(LGP you have here a very nice game to play, i had some fun with him, trilling and very well done, the only think you could put here was some commands to move flanks or lines of the army, like you did in other scenarios from different ages!!)

Balance: 4
(Its a little easy, with the Howitzers i couldnt lose, they give an extreme advantege to me, maybe you could give some Howitzers to the Germans, or other thing, like this its an easy game!!)

Creativity: 5
(Like you done before, excellent job in renaming the units with historical names, very well done.)

Map Design: 5
(Great map, just like that one in the site, you maked every detail, congratullations, vary well done!!)

Story/Instructions: 5
(I think you didnt put a very long script ou any triggers because you though it as the best, since you done fantastic script work in others scenarios... i think i was it!!)

Additional Comments:

You have a lot of units, but not enough to make the scenario unwieldly, or difficult to control.

Balance: 4
This scenario was somewhat easy, and most of you tanks can overpower the Italians. But it was great slaughtering whole unsuspecting infantgry.

Creativity: 5
This was a great idea for a battle a lot of people don't know about.

Map Design: 5
Very good map.

Story/Instructions: 5
The story was great. I learned a lot about this battle.

Additional Comments:
You've mad a name for yourself in the past couple of months. Keep it up.

Thanks for the great review everyone, actually I did not plan to make this scenario, but while I was aimlessly surfing the net, I found this link that showed me a virtual battle of El- Alamein. As i saw the animation i suddenly realised that no one has ever done a map about a WW2 battle. The original scenario that i was planning to do included alot of triggers and toolbar command based of Mongommery original plan but I scraped it altogether beause it no longer felt like a game and more of an animation. I found out that in scenarios like this, the best thing to do is to leave it with a light script and let the player choose what to do.

Again i would like to thank you again..
