Author File Description
File Details
Needs T&P?: Yes
You play as the Netherlands, but you can easily change it in map editor.

The map is of central Europe, with the edges being the Netherlands, France, and to the North, Sweden and the UK. The Nations are not of Equal size, but the smaller coutries do have rare resources. You CANNOT build cities. You can conduct diplomacy.

Nations and background.
starting from the 30 years war during the 1600s as a basis, you work up to the time of the 7 years war.

Netherlands(Dutch) - at war with the Spanish troops who occupy Spanish Netherlands (modern day Belgium). They also have to fight England for mastery of the seas, which are vital.

Spanish Hapsburgs(Spain) Fervantly catholic and eager to stamp out protestant herasy in places like the Netherlands. They also continually quarrel with England, its international rival. The type of troops of the Hapsburgs and their rivals were usually made up of great Mercenary armies led by men such as Spinola, the Duke of Alba, Tilly, and Ernst von Mansfeld who held allegience to no one, and looted and plundered from the countryside mercilessly, and turned germany and the Netherlands into a wasteland.

Austrian Hapsburgs(Greeks)The German Catholic Power, who also wish to stamp out protestentism growing in Germany. They pssess a great deal of Central Europe but want more. Their commander was Albrecht von Wallenstein, a particularly callous and ruthless man.

Britain and Hanover(British) The Engish were anti Catholic and opposed to all the countries championing that faith. It played a role as the balancer of Europe, creating alliances angainst the Catholic Hapsburgs and later against the French, to prevent any one power from becoming dominant. from 1714, the King of England came from the House of Hanover, creating involvemnt with the UK with that country.

Sweden(Americans) Sweden was a surprising world power during this period because of their well trained professional army. They conquered much of Northern Germany and the Baltic countries and defeated Russia many times. They were the defenders of Lutherinism, but they too soon sank to the level of the mercenary armies of Wallenstein and plundered Germany.

Prussia(Germans) The strongest of the small German states, they are stuck between large coutries and must field a disproportionately strong army to fight off the Armis which beset it from all sides.

Russia(Russians) for a long time under the Mongol yoke, and cut off form Europe, Russia now becomes a player on the European stage. However, its armies are untried against the better trained Western countries.

France(French). Catholic France fears both Protestinism and The Powerful Hapsburgs which potentially encircle France. Under Cardinal Richelieu they walk a fine line and try to weaken their neighbors while expanding their own power.

orbops An interesting scenario, but it seems like it turns into a stalemate. Once all the nations get to the same tech level 5, it seems impossible to really gain control. My problem was that once I started to get strong, all the other countries would team up against me. Anyone beat this scenario?
