I voted Kerry because he was the only choice for president in 2004 and because I have 1) a brain and 2) a wallet. Both choices for prez did not stink. One choice was 4 more years of nightmare, and the other choice was somebody who would be a real president. Unfortunately, those weird electronic voting machines in Ohio, which are not auditable, and which are manufactured by companies owned by right wingers, disagreed with me and selected Bush. Now Bush now has low popularity ratings in 45 states of the U.S., including Texas. In many states he's almost universally hated. Too bad the American electorate is only realizing who this guy really is now. Whether you have a job, whether your kid's getting killed in a foreign country for no good reason, whether the government is completely corrupt and incompetent, kinds of becomes more important than gay marriage after some thought. But of course being critical of Bush requires actual thought. The guy is seriously screwing up a country that I love.
As for Custer, he is a national hero precisely because his command was massacred. Prior to that, he was a smart and able commander in the Civil War and the Indian Wars but probably would have been a footnote in history if he hadn't led his regiment to its death. Atrocities committed by natives and whites were fairly common on the frontier for over a century; if the natives had sufficient population, firepower and political unity there probably wouldn't be a U.S. or a Canada. Custer apparently did massacre a native village but the circumstances are disputed.
So IamCanadian, how do you explain Harper?

""Isnt the American way of dealing with problems to slaughter and bucher everything in their path, espacially Native problems""
Spoken like a true morally superior Canadian..an ignorant one.
youre right no Europeans who ever settled in Canada ever stolen an Indians property or land. No European who ever settled in Canada ever killed an Indian. I guess teh Europeans who settled in teh USA stole Montana, North and South Dakota from the Sioux but the Sioux simply "gave" Alberta and Saskatchawan to Canada....Is there no limit to Canadian idiocy???

don't get too harsh now...those things are the past, time to think of the future. By the way, my fellow americans(im canadian), aren't we spose to be friends...good lord, why do we hate each other like so? time to patch things up and apologize...
