* Once you develop a missile shield, you have it forever. Even if somebody destroys all your buildings and units. BUT...
* In the entire span of history, only one supercollider can ever be built. If it gets destroyed, it can never be rebuilt. Same for space programs, palaces, statues, pyramids, etc.
* International blackmail (demanding "gifts") is perfectly acceptible. As long as it's being done TO your nation. You can never do it to other (AI) nations.
* Nations that have been peaceful allies for milennia will become frenemies at the drop of a hat, once there are fewer than four nations and no more technologies to research. After you've left the border with your ally totally unprotected.
* Wars are initiated because of another nation's "arrogance". It is never, ever caused by resource contention or desire for expansion.
* When a city is being attacked, all citizens happily go about doing their jobs. Or if they have none, they stand around doing nothing. They have to be ORDERED to hide inside buildings.
* Although forests, mountains, mines and fisheries are never exhausted, there is no such thing as "recycling".
* There are "pharmaceuticals", and all kinds of agriculture, including tobacco, but there is no hemp, hashish or opium, (even though these have been used by man since the dawn of agriculture).
* The only civil services provided by governments are the armed forces, libraries and universities. There are no police, fire departments, schools, etc. All the world is a Libertarian paradise!
* Unless you consider that all INDUSTRY is initiated by, and beholden to, the government. All the world is a Socialist paradise!
