Topic Subject: Empires : Dawn of the Modern World Questions answered

I recently got the chance to speak with Mike "YoungGunz" Echino and got the answers to a few questions posed by one of the forummers here about Empires : Rise of the Modern World. Here's what he had to say about SSSI's next project.

Q: Does resources work the same way as in EE? (same number and same wayto gather them and are they unlimited)

Quote:

No, we have removed iron from the game in order to simplify the economy for players.
Standard variant will retain the EE system ( Cap limit on resources and infinite resources)
Tournament variant has no cap limit on resources and they deplete quite rapidly

Q: Did they reveal any thing about the multiplayer interface?

Quote:

We are building our own multiplayer matchmaking software that combines all the best features of the top matchmaking servers with some new features of our own.

Q: How many campaigns will there be?

Quote:

We will be having 3 distinct campaigns featuring 3 of the world's great leaders -- Richard the Lionheart, Admiral Yi Sun-sin, and General George S. Patton.

Q: What does the game comes closest to? AoM, EE, RoN?

Quote:

EE & WC3. Our game is historical yet most of the units in the games have different abilities that make the units a lot more fun to interact with.

Q: How many units will be in the game?

Quote:

I can’t give you the exact number off the top of my head but I can say empires have a lot of units and each unit has totally unique artwork.

Q: Recorded games?

Quote:

Yes

Q: Scn Editor ?

Quote:

Of course

Great Q&Aa, but i'm not to happy about the first reply, i believe EE had just the right resources system.

posted this at EDMW Aeon first

Quoted from Me:

I do not see the problem, really. It still has more resources than AOM. Iron, while it may be important, is not used by the government to build aircraft, tanks, guns, etc. The government pays money (gold) to a manufacturer who builds the equipment and buys the necessary goods.

It makes sense, and is actually more realistic than previous systems.

Now if only they would remove food and wood and stone...

That is my opinion on the matter.

yeah, resources arent everything in a rts game, praetorians didnt really have any at all, and it is really cool

Well Lois, I tried finding my creativity like you said. First I tried an art class..Am I-Am I supposed to draw the penis? Then I tried sculpting..Am I-Am I supposed to sculpt the penis? Then i tried music..Am I-Am I supposed to conduct with my penis? Then I realised that this is it, Lois, my penis belongs on stage! ---Family Guy

Oh come on... you had food, wood, iron, and gold. iron was not that hard to mine. Personally i would have enjoyed a feature to turn off preists/profits but it never happened. I also loved how EE would learn to counter the armies you built by building unit counters. AI cheating was difficult, but it made the game a challenge. My friends and I would do Comp Stomps and we would go for hours. Also, trying to find that last villager running around the map was annoying too. I really enjoyed EE and to date it was my favorite RTS. (not the expansion, ugh) I plan on purchasing this game, and EE2. Im very impressed with this game as well. They are both going to be in my collection.

similar to EE AND wc3 ?? the only way it would work (wc3 being very micro intensive) is if they lower the number of units you can control at any time, but thats far from EE spirit.

Wc3 bandwagon if ye ask me.

Who said there's going to be an EE2? There are only rumors about this, no facts.

And yes, Empires: Dawn of the Modern World seems to be the most impressive RTS to date by the looks of it...I mean...recorded games, completely unique civilizations...common! how much better can you get?

well, in one mode you will be able to have UNLIMITED amount of units, almost every unit will have a secondary attack/move.

cool *** graphics too! man i think they look sweet!

meh, i never liked the fifth resource (metal).

The AI cheating was good? hey, maybe for the hardcore gamer, but not for the casual gamer, who doesnt have the time to play for 6 hours...
